Viruses that have remained unknown for hundreds of thousands of years suddenly burst upon the scene and there is no defense against them, such as the Ebola virus. This course investigates the mysterious world of viruses and the threats they pose as humans continue to invade heretofore untouched areas of the Earth such as the rainforests and the deepest caves on the planet where explorers encounter a strange microscopic world.

*CREDIT: Semester hours of non-degree Professional Development Credit is offered through LMU. Students meeting course syllabus requirements earn a grade on their transcript of CR (credit). Students not meeting requirements earn a grade of NC (no credit). Professional Development Credit is not applicable toward any undergraduate or graduate degree at Loyola Marymount University. Courses are designed for student with baccalaureate degrees and appropriate teaching credentials.
