Building a Strong Reading Program

Description

Reading has become the hot topic in education, and educators are receiving more pressure to build strong reading programs. This course will guide you to many of the excellent resources available on the Internet, which can help you compare your program with others and look at the theoretical and practical elements of a strong program. Investigate learning theory related to reading plus National Standards. Look at current research on what works and what doesn’t.

Course Type

A huge library of information is available on the Internet for you to use to research and develop curriculum, but you may find it intimidating or too complicated to become comfortable with this valuable resource tool. These courses have two objectives: to help you learn the various research tools step-by-step from the basics so you become a proficient Internet researcher on any topic, and to explore and discover educationally useful information on the topic you chose to apply to your role as teacher, counselor, or administrator. All courses in this series are three semester hours and available as “On-Line” or “E-Courses.” All materials needed for the course are provided and your instructor is available daily by email or phone.

• Access to an Internet-connected computer is required for interacting with course material.
• All coursework assignments will be received electronically.
• It is recommended the first time you enroll in an Internet resource course, you enroll with all materials which includes an all-inclusive Internet resource reference book. Thereafter, enroll in worksheets only.
• This course must be completed within one year from the date of enrollment.
