Children in Crisis

Description

This course is designed to acquaint the teacher with several of the more serious problems some children exhibit in the classroom. It is not designed to cure these disorders, rather it helps the teacher recognize symptoms so the child may receive help and understanding rather than suffer frustration and embarrassment. These problems include fetal alcohol syndrome, fetal alcohol effects, Attention Deficit Disorder, the problems of children in foster homes, and stresses encountered by children of different cultures.

Course Type

These are non-classroom based, self-directed, independent study courses. You will use texts, DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes, or other materials and you will return your assignments by mail. The cost of the materials is included in the tuition and the materials are yours to keep at the conclusion of the course. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for each Traditional Course depending on the course you choose.
