This course explores the state of U.S. preparedness in the event of a terrorist attack of large proportions. It then examines the problem of constitutional rights versus preparedness for such an attack. Educators will be asked to examine the Patriot Act and to take a stand, either for or against, the Act. Finally, they are asked to prepare a paper asking what their actions would be in the event of a chemical, radiological, nuclear, or biological attack, all of which require a different response. They must consider their responsibility to their students, their families and to themselves.Course content is appropriate for all educators and administrators, however, course materials would not be appropriate for elementary or middle school classrooms.
