Description

There are dozens of theories about how people learn – especially children. As educators, you deal with them in one form or another every day. This course will direct you to Internet resources that focus on the major learning theories like Cognitive Learning Theory and Multiple Intelligences, plus introduce you to many other theories. You will explore these and other specific concepts, and find resources that meet your specific needs using newsgroups, listserves, mailing lists and chat rooms. The course is completed by developing a lesson plan or project you can use in your classroom or school to improve the learning environment.

Course Type

A huge library of information is available on the Internet for you to use to research and develop curriculum, but you may find it intimidating or too complicated to become comfortable with this valuable resource tool. These courses have two objectives: to help you learn the various research tools step-by-step from the basics so you become a proficient Internet researcher on any topic, and to explore and discover educationally useful information on the topic you chose to apply to your role as teacher, counselor, or administrator. All courses in this series are three semester hours and available as “On-Line” or “E-Courses.” All materials needed for the course are provided and your instructor is available daily by email or phone.

• All coursework assignments will be received electronically.
• It is recommended the first time you enroll in an Internet resource course, you enroll with all materials which includes an all-inclusive Internet resource reference book. Thereafter, enroll in worksheets only.
• This course must be completed within one year from the date of enrollment.
