This course takes you on a journey to the heart of one of the most cataclysmic events in human history: the coming of Western Civilization via the Conquistadors. In the words of the Incas, they "turned the world upside down." This course will provide a firsthand look at the Spanish treatment of the Indians, an in-depth look at the daily life of the Aztecs before the arrival of the Spanish, as well as retrace the paths the Spanish took in conquering the New World.

*CREDIT: Semester hours of non-degree Professional Development Credit is offered through LMU. Students meeting course syllabus requirements earn a grade on their transcript of CR (credit). Students not meeting requirements earn a grade of NC (no credit). Professional Development Credit is not applicable toward any undergraduate or graduate degree at Loyola Marymount University. Courses are designed for student with baccalaureate degrees and appropriate teaching credentials. Course credit may be used for some professional advancement requirements, such as salary movement and recertification credits.
