This course gives the participant a fascinating look at the California Gold Rush of 1849. A shiver went through the whole country when gold was discovered in California, and this course describes the hopes, dreams and harsh realities that accompanied it. It will take you to the mining camps to see how gold was mined, uncover what happened to claim jumpers, and reveal the exhilaration and hardships of those lured by the dream of wealth.

*CREDIT: Semester hours of non-degree Professional Development Credit is offered through LMU. Students meeting course syllabus requirements earn a grade on their transcript of CR (credit).
