Course texts include Two Years Before the Mast, depicting Dana's odyssey to Dana Point. Explore Orange County Marine Facility with its wonderful facilities for teachers. See the full-scale replica of "Pilgrim," Dana's ship, anchored at the facility. Then travel a short distance to San Juan Capistrano, City of Swallows. Visit a the mission San Juan Capistrano, take a walking tour of existing adobes, and explore this tiny, never-changing city through the eyes of renowned historian Pamela Hallan-Gibson and other experts of the area.
