Women in History: Then and Now

The course attempts to uncover, discover and recover some of the contributions and influences women have made to American history, from the first airline stewardess to the first woman to be accused as an accomplice in an assassination of a U.S. President, to the role of the First Lady. Also included are speeches by noted political and judicial figures from which students will prepare opinions and evaluations. Texts cover not only historical events but women's accomplishments in sports and the accomplishments of Native American women.

*CREDIT: Semester hours of non-degree Professional Development Credit is offered through LMU. Students meeting course syllabus requirements earn a grade on their transcript of CR (credit). Students not meeting requirements earn a grade of NC (no credit). Professional Development Credit is not applicable toward any undergraduate or graduate degree at Loyola Marymount University. Courses are designed for student with baccalaureate degrees and appropriate teaching credentials. Course credit may be used for some professional advancement requirements, such as salary movement and recertification credits.
